Description
Elegant pair of Italian “gondola” chairs in Empire style, dateable to the 20th century (early half).
Made of solid wood, they feature the characteristic graceful curve of the backrest, with upholstered seat and back in red velvet. The harmonious proportions, artisanal craftsmanship, and traditional joinery testify to a high-quality production typical of Italian cabinetmaking of the period.

In some points of the inner edging of the seat a few decorative studs are missing; the defect is limited to the inner part and does not affect the external profile, which retains the full edging and presents aesthetically very well.
Overall the pair is in excellent conservational condition for the 19th century and could benefit only from light conservation work, such as a gentle wax of the wood.
