Description from the seller
Original work by Wags. In this composition bathed in warm, theatrical light, Wags captures a suspended moment between elegance and mystery. The female silhouette, caught at the threshold of an antique elevator, seems to belong to a story whose beginning or end the spectator does not yet know. The contrast between precious wood panelling, marble, the airy dress, and the red hat creates a refined atmosphere where sensuality remains suggested rather than revealed. A painting that celebrates the beauty of light, silence, and the moments each viewer is free to imagine.
This work is part of The Red Hat Collection, a series of paintings in which a mysterious silhouette with a red hat traverses the world’s most iconic places, leaving to the viewer the task of imagining her story.

Biography:
Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the career of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovered his first passion very early: music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: invest the money meant to finance his higher education to create his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the hoped-for success, but it marks the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.
Alongside his music career, Wags entered the advertising world as a copywriter for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he put his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and directing Playboy’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career came in 2005 when he became a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovered a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Wags made a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
Seeking to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt, who signs under this pseudonym to avoid interfering with his usual work.
This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a glamorous modern aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work a familiar atmosphere and treatment of light.
