Description from the seller

Original work by Wags. Between contemporary figurative painting and homage to vintage advertising, this piece humorously plays with the notion of indulgence. By transforming a simple jar of spread into an unexpected pedestal, Wags distorts a daily object to create an image that is at once sensual, elegant, and decidedly pop. The warm light, the model's bright smile, and the minimalist composition reinforce the timeless character of this scene, where humor naturally dialogues with the 1950s pin-up aesthetic.

Biography:

Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a illustrator, Wags discovers at a very young age his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money intended to finance his higher studies in the creation of his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experiments.

Paralleling his musical career, Wags enters the world of advertising as a copywriter for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he brings his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.

The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Wags makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in street art worldwide. A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to this day.

Wishing to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym in order not to interfere with his usual work.

This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and modern glamorous aesthetics. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work a familiar atmosphere and treatment of light.
