Description from the seller

Original work by Wags. This painting captures the precise moment just before the dive. In a deliberately pared-down composition, Wags focuses all attention on the light, the reflections on the water, and the balance of forms. The contrasts between the intense blue of the pool and the warm tones of the skin create a vibrant, sunlit image where movement seems imminent. Between contemporary realism and graphic aesthetics, this work celebrates freedom, summer, and the simplicity of a suspended moment.

About the Summer Light series: This series of contemporary figurative paintings where light becomes the true subject. Through sun-drenched pools, immaculate diving boards, and elegant silhouettes, Wags celebrates the simplicity of summer, the sweetness of life, and the evocative power of reflections. Inspired by Mediterranean aesthetics and contemporary photography, each work invites the viewer to prolong this fragile moment where time seems suspended.

Biography:

Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the path of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovered very early his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: To invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in the creation of his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet the expected success, but it marked the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.

Alongside his musical career, Wags entered the world of advertising as a copywriter for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he put his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.

The turning point of his career came in 2005 when he became a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovered a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Wags made a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who became a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

Wanting to explore new artistic universes, Wags is none other than Kobalt who signs under this pseudonym in order not to interfere with his usual work.

This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and treatment of light that are familiar to them.
