Biography:

Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the path of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion, music production. This passion guides him in his youth, and his precocious talents lead him to take a bold decision: invest the money intended to fund his higher studies to invest it in creating his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.

Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt enters the world of advertising as a copywriter for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he brings his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.

The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic strand to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted art creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

His artistic approach is marked by the bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for détournement of magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.

Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay off social networks, preserving a certain intimacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.

Influences: Pop Art | Comic Art | Vintage Advertising | Street Art | Retro Poster | Science Fiction | Space Art | DC Comics | Collectible Artwork | Warhol | Lichtenstein | Banksy | Obey | Magritte | Basquiat
