Description from the seller

Overview

A full-size violin of Austrian / Central-European workshop manufacture, finished in a warm red-brown varnish. The instrument carries no label and is offered as an unattributed workshop violin. It is supplied in the white of setup — the bridge is not yet fitted and the soundpost is not set — making it a project instrument for a player or luthier who will complete the final setup.

Construction & woods

The two-piece spruce top shows a regular grain, fine at the centre joint and broadening towards the flanks. The two-piece maple back displays a medium flame running roughly horizontally and descending gently from the centre joint, with matching flame visible on the ribs and the back of the neck. The arching is medium and even. The scroll is cleanly carved with a symmetrical volute and a tidy pegbox.

Varnish

Red-brown varnish of good lustre and transparency, allowing the maple flame to read clearly through the colour on the back and ribs. The surface is lightly antiqued with shading toward the edges and shows only minor, even handling marks consistent with age.

F-holes, purfling & fittings

The f-holes are fairly upright, cleanly and symmetrically cut. Inlaid purfling runs neatly around the outline. Fittings are ebony throughout: fingerboard, pegs and tailpiece. A plain maple blank bridge rests loosely in place (not fitted), and the instrument is strung with factory strings.

Condition

Honest, sound condition with no visible cracks or repairs to top, back or ribs, and no worm damage. Light surface wear only. Note: NOT play-ready — bridge fitting and soundpost setting are required before use.

Dimensions & setup

Size: 4/4 (full size); body length approx. 36 cm. Status: setup required (fit bridge, set soundpost, final adjustment).
