Description of the work
This Refugio Marcado piece is part of the primitivist collection; I have created compositions that feel architectural, while carrying intuitive and emotional energy. One perceives an influence of informal abstraction, as well as a particular attention to visual balance and rhythm.

Technically, I mainly use acrylic on canvas, exploring layers, transparencies and overlaps. I work with free gestures and bold lines, often applied spontaneously, creating a tension between control and impulse. I employ strong chromatic contrasts — notably earthy tones, a deep black and touches of vibrant color — in order to guide the eye and create visual impact. Texture also plays an essential role: I leave visible the traces of the process, valuing the material and the movement of the paint.

About the artist: Born in 1966, Jane Grièco is a Brazilian artist living in Brittany.
Since her beginnings under the strong and insistent sun of the tropics, Jane pursued beauty in the thousands of color nuances that light makes sparkle.
