Description

Elegant Italian double bedhead made of walnut wood, attributable to the early years of the 20th century (circa 1905–1915), produced by the historic Mobilificio Italiano Fogliano of Naples, as evidenced by the original brass plaque still present on the front.

Mobilificio Fogliano, founded in 1881, was known for producing high-quality furniture inspired by the great styles of Italian interior design. This bedhead represents a refined example of Neo-Renaissance taste, characterized by a substantial moulded frame, elegant fluted side columns with decorative capitals, and a wide central panel richly carved with vegetal motifs and volutes.

The carving shows excellent depth and craftsmanship of notable quality, finished with meticulous care. The harmonious proportions, the splendid patina of the wood, and the constructive quality attest to a higher-level production.

The presence of the original brass plaque “Mobilificio Italiano Fogliano – Napoli – Fondato 1881” constitutes an additional element of historical and collectible interest.

Conditions

In excellent conservative condition, with normal and light wear consistent with age. The top shelf shows some small holes and minimal superficial marks, visible only up close and not such as to compromise its aesthetics. On the back there is a slight mark in correspondence with a fixing point, not visible from the front and without aesthetic impact. The structure is solid and stable and preserves a splendid original patina.
