Hardcover. Condition: good. Four large quarto volumes, 26 x 17.5 cm, VI 822 pp., 767 pp., 702 pp. and 844 pp.
Romantic-era binding in green half-leather, smooth spine adorned with the author, with volume numbering, borders and large golden romantic tools, guards of yellow paper. (spine rubbed, small losses of leather at several heads, corners worn, foxing especially on the engravings and adjacent pages including the serpentines).
The copy has been studded with 39 steel engravings from the Byron Women album, a highly fashionable type of collection at the time.
One of the most important and widespread French translations of Byron in the 19th century.
Vicaire 1, 990. Original edition of this translation, the 3rd after Amédée Pichet 1822-25 and Pauline Paris 1830-32. Published in 120 installments.
