Description from the seller
Biography of Ninni Pagano
The Poetics: "The Chamber of Wonders"
La ricerca di Pagano è strettamente legata al concetto di Wunderkammer (Camera delle Meraviglie). Le sue opere sono spesso concepite come spazi mentali dove si fondono:
Classicism and Pop: Elements of Greek and Renaissance statuary are reinterpreted with compact colors and contemporary symbolisms.
Alchemy and Philosophy: The artist probes the enigma of existence through dreamlike figures (such as his famous "Swan Women") and hermetic references.
The Material: He uses mixed powders to achieve chromatic compactness that gives his canvases a nearly sculptural dimension.
Milestones and Recognitions
Although his exhibiting career fully took off around 2011, he quickly reached internationally significant milestones:
Venice Biennale: He exhibited at the 56th edition (2015) within the "Grazie Italia" exhibition at the Guatemala Pavilion.
Roma Triennale: Participation in the Visual Arts Triennial Exhibition in 2014.
Publications: His work is included in Mondadori's Catalogo d'Arte Moderna (CAM) and in the De Agostini Atlas of Contemporary Art.
International Presence: His works have been shown at prestigious venues such as the Altes Dampfbad Museum in Baden-Baden, Germany and at the Art Market in Budapest.
In addition to painter and sculptor, Pagano is an expert connoisseur of antique art. This passion is reflected in the way he "recovers" the past, not to copy it, but to transform it into a grotesque and fascinating language that speaks of the contradictions of modern man.
Inner Resonance
The resonance: It echoes the same acoustic concept as an echo, suggesting that something deep is vibrating within the figure and it manifests visually through the elongation of the neck.
The interior: It keeps attention on the intimate, psychological, and spiritual dimension of the subject, perfectly aligned with Pagano's introspective surrealism.
