Description from the seller
"Moss Agate" balloon-wine glasses
"Moss Agate" balloon-wine glasses, originally commissioned by the American luxury department store Neiman Marcus.
Origin: these hand-blown glasses were actually produced and exported by the historic Hortensja glass factory in Poland.
Material: It is glass with colored inclusions (often red, brown and gold-toned marbling) that mimic the organic texture and patterns of moss agate.
Unique design: Because each glass is handmade, the distribution of colors and specks on each piece is completely unique.
The Polish glass factory Hortensja produced this marbled art glass intensively in the 1970s, a period when organic earth tones, psychedelic patterns and unique textures were hugely popular worldwide in interior design. Distribution: The American luxury department store Neiman Marcus bought these collections in that same period (notably mid-70s) to offer them as exclusive, hand-blown imported dinnerware in their catalogs. They are authentic Mid-Century / vintage glasses of about 50 years old.
