AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Eliza Kołodziej (b. 2000, Poland)
“My Boots, a Study”, 2023
Oil on paper
23 × 22 cm (unframed)

Created during a painting class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, this still life marks the artist's return to one of the fundamental exercises of classical painting – careful observation of everyday objects.

The composition brings together worn hiking boots, a backpack and studio tools, rendered with expressive brushwork and close attention to texture, light and form. Muted earth tones and visible paint application emphasize the material qualities of the objects while preserving the immediacy of the study.

The painting celebrates the quiet discipline of observation, transforming familiar personal belongings into a balanced and expressive composition.

The painting will be shipped in secure, multi-layered packaging with an insured, tracked delivery and a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Seller's Story

I am Eliza Kołodziej, a Polish painter (b. 2000) and MFA graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where I completed my diploma with the highest distinction. I create oil paintings focused on urban spaces, often exploring moments of tension, emptiness and quiet unease – places that feel familiar but slightly off. My work is rooted in traditional painting techniques, with a strong attention to light, material and atmosphere. Alongside painting, I also work with textile and craft-based practices, which influence my sensitivity to structure and surface. My works have been exhibited in galleries such as Bacalarte Gallery and A10 Gallery, as well as in group exhibitions at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. I am a recipient of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship and multiple Rector’s Scholarships for outstanding artistic achievement. All artworks offered here come directly from my studio. Each piece is original, carefully finished and shipped securely with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
