AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Eliza Kołodziej (b. 2000, Poland)
“Heartstruck”, 2023
Oil on canvas
18 × 24 cm (unframed, ready to hang)

Painted during the Dłużew Plein Air in Poland, this work was inspired by an old garden sculpture slowly disappearing beneath moss and vegetation. As nature reclaimed its surface, the figure seemed less like a monument and more like part of the landscape itself.

The composition revolves around a vivid red tree painted directly behind the sculpture. Its textured trunk appears to emerge from the figure's heart, turning an ordinary observation into an image charged with quiet emotion. Rich greens, expressive brushwork and the contrast between organic growth and weathered stone create a scene suspended between memory, nature and imagination.

Exhibited in: Dłużew Plein Air Exhibition, Poland, 2023.

The painting is ready to hang and will be shipped in secure, multi-layered packaging with an insured, tracked delivery and a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Seller's Story

I am Eliza Kołodziej, a Polish painter (b. 2000) and MFA graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where I completed my diploma with the highest distinction. I create oil paintings focused on urban spaces, often exploring moments of tension, emptiness and quiet unease – places that feel familiar but slightly off. My work is rooted in traditional painting techniques, with a strong attention to light, material and atmosphere. Alongside painting, I also work with textile and craft-based practices, which influence my sensitivity to structure and surface. My works have been exhibited in galleries such as Bacalarte Gallery and A10 Gallery, as well as in group exhibitions at the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. I am a recipient of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Scholarship and multiple Rector’s Scholarships for outstanding artistic achievement. All artworks offered here come directly from my studio. Each piece is original, carefully finished and shipped securely with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
