Vanessa Bonino's Primordial Bull is a patinated gesso sculpture of a bull's head on a light wood base, 28 × 13 × 10 cm, hand-signed, 2026, a unique contemporary piece with turquoise, green and gold patination.
Description from the seller
This work by Vanessa Bonino is a patinated plaster sculpture depicting the head of a bull, laid on a geometric light-wood base. The artist reinterprets the animal through rough lines and a heavily material surface, almost rupestrian, that evokes primordial strength. The patination plays with intense shifts of turquoise, aquamarine, and gold inserts on the horns and snout, recalling the oxidation of ancient bronze. A pour of the same pigment unites the sculpture fluidly with its pedestal. The result is a contemporary archaeological fragment, charged with vital energy and mythological resonances. It will be shipped inside a solid protective wrap with an authenticity certificate.
Vanessa Bonino (Turin, 1992) is a contemporary artist whose current research focuses on the plastic force of material sculpture. Trained in the cultural fervor of Turin, Bonino has evolved her eclectic style toward an original synthesis between ceramic tradition and digital languages. Her latest productions attest to a deep experimentation with terracotta and glazed ceramic, where ancestral forms — such as the bull or the carp — are reinterpret ed through low-poly geometries or expressionist shapes full of dynamism. Her artistic signature is characterized by the deft use of cold, iridescent patinas and vitreous glazes, capable of transforming earth into surfaces vibrant with light and color. Addressing themes related to nature and the metamorphosis of matter, Bonino creates works that are at once solid and fluid, inviting the viewer to reflect on the boundary between the archaic and the future. Her steady rise in the Italian contemporary art scene is confirmed by an ever more solid presence in private collections and dynamic exhibition contexts.
