Eurydice at Herald Square, a 40 × 40 cm hand-signed giclée on canvas in a limited edition of 20, produced in France in 2022, depicting a realism portrait of a ballet dancer in a metropolitan setting, with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Description from the seller
A ballerina in pointe shoes, at the edge of the subway mouth: absolute grace set upon the city’s most prosaic infrastructure. The contrast is the very subject. She leans on the blue railing as if at the edge of an abyss — and the staircase plunging behind her evokes a descent one would rather not name. Behind, the sign “New Yorker” and the Empire State’s arrow form the city’s crest; passersby in suits, indifferent or swept up by the spectacle, embody the ordinary gaze confronted with the exceptional. The man in the hat turning around embodies the spectator’s viewpoint caught in the act of contemplation. “Herald” — the messenger — is not a random name on the plaque.
