Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Two bronze gilt lamps in a neoclassical Louis XVI style, made in Spain, dating to 1950–1960, in good used condition and in working order, each measuring 31 cm high, 14 cm wide and 14 cm deep.
Description from the seller
They are two lamps that faithfully embody the spirit of Louis XVI reinterpreted in mid-20th-century decoration, when workshops still turned to gilt bronze to produce domestic pieces with a classical, orderly, and elegant presence. Here baroqueness disappears and neoclassical sobriety takes the stage, with its taste for symmetry, proportion, and stylized vegetal motifs.
The design unfolds on a wide, fluted base, almost like a small architectural plinth that provides stability and solemnity. Above it rises a shaft decorated with grooves and fine reliefs, where the ornamentation is never excessive: everything is measured, balanced, thought to suggest refinement rather than exuberance. Acanthus leaves appear, yes, but no longer in undulating volumes, rather tamed by the neoclassical order, transformed into an elegant and restrained motif.
The gilded bronze provides that warm, classical tone, with a soft patina that enhances the grooves and reliefs without losing the sense of a solid, well-crafted piece. The white socket and modern electrification reveal their mid-20th-century manufacture, but the formal language is fully Louis XVI: verticality, clarity of lines, sober ornamentation, and an air of distinction that works both in classical interiors and in contemporary spaces seeking a historic accent.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
