Two Gothic-style brass lamps dating from 1950–1960, with a warm gold-brass finish, each 31 cm tall, 14 cm wide and 14 cm deep, in good used condition and in working order, originating from Spain.
Description from the seller
They are two lamps that convey the gothic spirit to the decorative sensibility of the mid-20th century, a moment when many workshops revived medieval languages to give interiors a liturgical, solemn, and almost architectural air. Here the golden brass does not seek perfect shine, but that ancient presence, slightly darkened, that recalls metals from churches and Gothic palaces.
The structure of both pieces is organized like a small medieval column: a wide base with pronounced reliefs that evoke stony bases; a rising shaft with geometric and stylized vegetal motifs, where vertical lines dominate and create that sense of elevation so characteristic of Gothic; and a top finial that supports the modern socket without breaking historical coherence. The reliefs, worked with firmness, recall tracery, rib vaults and small pointed leaves that could belong to capitals or friezes of a temple.
The golden brass, with its warm and deep tone, brings the ceremonial dimension: it is not festive gold, but ancient gold, almost monastic, that plays with light to accentuate the shadows among the reliefs. The patina softens the contours and gives the lamps that air of inherited objects, as if they had been part of sacred furniture reinterpreted for the modern home.
Although manufactured in the twentieth century, they maintain the verticality, the ornamental severity, and the visual spirituality of Gothic. They work very well in classic, rustic, medievalizing, or even contemporary interiors when one seeks a historical accent full of character.
Certified shipping and careful packing.
