Magnificent and rare earthenware pitcher signed by Robert Picault (1919-2000), emblematic ceramicist of Vallauris' golden age.
This model differs from the artist's traditional green and brown geometric production with its superb vegetal décor of stylized thistles, hand-painted in cobalt blue and enhanced with a warm brown/iron oxide.
A very poetic piece, full of charm and sought after by collectors for the rarity of its white-blue palette.
Designer: Robert Picault (signed with the monogram "RP" with a brush under the base).
Period: 1950s/1960s.
Origin: Vallauris, France.
