Description from the seller
Lot consisting of 2 volumes of the scientific encyclopedia Australian Marine Shells
Volume 1: 408 pages (includes a color map divided over two pages and no fewer than 44 full-color plates on the page featuring the main families such as Strombidae, Cypraeidae and Ranellidae).
Volume 2: 370 pages (includes a further color map and as many as 53 full-page color plates focused on neogastropods such as Muricidae, Volutidae and Conidae)
(Australian marine shells), written by the renowned Australian malacologist Barry Wilson.
It is one of the most authoritative and important scientific reference works globally for the study and identification of mollusks.
The complete work is divided into two volumes (Volume 1 and Volume 2), originally published in 1993 and 1994 respectively. The text describes in depth and catalogs over 2,400 species (some estimates indicate up to 4,200 depending on taxonomic revisions) of marine prosobranch gastropods that inhabit the waters of Australia.
It is a monumental work highly sought after by collectors both for its academic value and for the presence of over 100 full-page color plates, technical drawings and photographs of living specimens in their natural habitat.
Conditions: excellent, no marks and no yellowing to report; on page 320 of vol2 a very light detachment almost imperceptible.
Very detailed photos serve as description.
Rigid and well-protected and traceable packaging
