Description from the seller
Suzy Vanezis (British), Labyrinthine Serenity, 2023. Oil on canvas.
120 x 93cm (canvas size, unframed)
About the Artwork:
Labyrinthine Serenity is part of an ongoing body of paintings exploring the aesthetics of the “backrooms,” postmodern architecture, and imagined leisure spaces. Through its expansive scale and painterly surface, the work evokes over-lit, liminal environments where a sense of play and unease coexist. The painting reflects Vanezis’s wider interest in artificial spaces shaped by corporate modernism, leisure architecture, and embodied experience.
Artist Biography:
Suzy Vanezis is a British artist whose practice centres on painting. She graduated from the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, in 2019, and was shortlisted for the Rise Emerging Artist Prize 2026. Her work explores intimacy, tenderness, and the body through imagined interior spaces and a sensitive use of colour and atmosphere.
