Labelled F. Pillemont - - Violin - Unknown

An old 4/4 French violin with a maker's mark of F. PILLEMONT (1774 - 1831). The violin has been documented in the past by someone and must be more than 200 years old. This violin has been played for years by a professional violinist. Furthermore I can say little about it. The violin has well-repaired cracks on the top plate. The back plate has a notch at the bottom right, presumably made a very long time ago in an excellent manner. Notably is the beautifully carved tailpiece. I had the violin checked by a luthier and it is completely sound.
The sound is something very special, a warm full tone, reminiscent of a viola. The violin is delivered in the presumably original wooden case.
