G. Prati - Ariberto - 1860-1860

Rare nineteenth-century edition of the poem “Ariberto” by the Italian poet Giovanni Prati, published in Turin in 1860 by Unione Tipografico-Editrice.

The work presents itself in elegant contemporary binding in half-leather with red cloth covers and a refined spine richly decorated with friezes and the title embossed in gold.

The volume is enhanced by an engraved portrait of the author on the frontispiece. On the title page there is a dedication “To the double Majesty of Italy and the King,” testimony to the historical climate of the era of Italian Unification.

It is an interesting testament to nineteenth-century Italian patriotic poetry, aimed at collectors of antique books and Risorgimento literature.
