Jos van Dijk was a versatile painter who, during his life, worked in various styles but always returned to realistic work. He personally knew the founders of Cobra and at one time worked in that style. This painting still carries a hint of that in its use of color. It is thickly painted and in perfect condition. The frame shows signs of aging.

He also contributed to a restoration of Panorama Mesdag.
