Giovanni Contardi's unique wall sculpture Rubik's Cube Mosaic - 'Espalier', a 2026 work created from 64 original Rubik’s Cubes on an MDF panel, 45.8 × 45.8 cm (8.6 kg), hand signed on the reverse, with a certificate of authenticity, in excellent condition and ready to hang.
Description from the seller
‘Espalier’ is a wall sculpture made from 64 original Rubik’s Cubes, mounted on an MDF panel.
The term “espalier” refers to the horticultural method in which a plant is trained to grow along a fixed structure. The work uses this idea to explore the tension between organic movement and geometric constraint.
A floral form appears to grow through the rigid grid of the Rubik’s Cubes, while remaining visibly shaped by the modular logic of the object. The image moves between natural growth and artificial structure, softness and control.
Giovanni Contardi (1994) is an Italian artist internationally recognised for his mosaics created entirely from original Rubik’s Cubes. His installations are permanently exhibited at the Disney Hotel New York "The Art of Marvel" (Disneyland Paris) and at the Rossini National Museum in Italy.
His work was also mentioned by Ernő Rubik, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube, in his autobiographical book Cubed: The Puzzle of Us All (2020).
Unique piece.
Signed on the reverse.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity with archival hologram seal.
Ready to hang.

Selected works and installations are shared on Instagram under the name JVENB.
