Description from the seller
Hand-carved wooden coat of arms.
The woodcarving shows a two-headed eagle and a shield with images of castles and lions. This woodcarving is a representation of the historical coat of arms of the city of Toledo in Spain. The design is deeply rooted in Spanish history:
The Two-Headed Eagle: This is the imperial symbol of the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg dynasty. It was gifted to the city of Toledo by Emperor Charles V (Charles I of Spain) in the 16th century.
The Central Shield: This shield is divided into four quarters with alternating castles and rampant lions. These symbolize the historical kingdoms of Castile (the castle) and León (the lion), the foundations of modern Spain.
