"Bouquet of Flowers"
Oil on canvas,

Gallery stamp Martin Caille; various exhibition and archive numbers on the back of the canvas,
Provenance: Martin-Caille Gallery in Paris (stamps on the back) then private collection.
Beautiful, luminous work with strong contrast by the Corsican-born painter Max Agostini, depicting a bouquet of flowers, most likely daisies or anemones, in a vase on a plinth.
The artist uses a palette of bright, luminous colors which gives life to the piece.
Leader among contemporary impressionists, the painter MAX-AGOSTINI was born in Paris in 1914, of Corsican origin through his grandparents. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and discovered a true talent for Impressionism.
Drafted into the French Army for five years at the start of World War II, MAX-AGOSTINI was taken prisoner for three years.
After the war, he was noted for his excellent portraiture and landscapes in Châteauroux, where he worked for several years. Later, he settled in Gargilesse in the Berry and in Provence.
In January 1997, he was still painting his finest canvases a few days before his hospitalization.
He is recognized worldwide as one of the greatest colorists of his time.
Dimensions: 46 x 55 cm without frame and 65 x 74 cm with an original wooden gilded frame.
