Artist biography:
Martín Vidal Corella (Valencia, January 1, 1895 – June 4, 1976). Painter and photographer (as were his brothers Vicente and Luis), born into a family of several generations of artists who were pioneers of photography.
Son of Martín Vidal Romero, the initiator of a dynasty of Valencian photographers that continues to the present in the person of his brother Luis Vidal Corella’s grandson, Luis Vidal Ayala.
He studied at the Academy of San Carlos; his work was positively valued, as shown by winning the third medal at the 1914 Regional Art Exhibition, and the following year, the first.
He was a pupil of Mariano Benlliure and a teacher of Fernando Hurtado Sanchís.
He competed on several occasions, earning new prizes. He was an artistic photographer, a professional in press photojournalism. His studio is located in the maritime district. A genre photographer of Valencian life in the early 20th century, part of his photographic work was acquired by the Valencia City Council archives.
