Description from the seller
NITRO - The Last Supper Remix - Mixed media on canvas
Mixed media, Acrylic paint, Spray paint · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026
Leonardo's Last Supper raised to street-level high voltage. The sacred composition is there, intact in its order: Christ at the center, the apostles arranged in groups, the table clothed in white, but everything else explodes into a pop shock: comic book bubbles (LOVE, POW, ZAP, HOPE), yellow smileys, mod targets, checkered patterns, lightning bolts, fluorescent drips that run down the tablecloth and the walls. In the background, Renaissance tapestries tear open to reveal a retro-gaming labyrinth and psychedelic motifs. The halos still shine, but on a wall studded with barcodes and cartoon-gloved hands. NITRO isn’t mocking: he hooks the masterpiece to the current of visual culture, where the sacred, advertising, video games and graffiti coexist in the same joyful racket. A fresco that makes five centuries converse in a single flash.
Technique mixte: acrylic paint, drips and spray paint on a pigment-ink print, matte varnish.
Hand-applied varnish, for color depth and the artwork’s durable protection.
Support: premium rolled canvas, professional and secure delivery.
Format: 40x90 cm horizontal
Signed NITRO · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
NITRO is one of the creations bringing together the artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neorealism, pop, and free figuration. Under the name NITRO, the Atelier connects the greatest masterpieces of art history to the current of pop and urban culture: comic book codes, graffiti, drips, textures and saturated colors. Born from the explosive energy of a Picasso and the audacity of pop art and street art, the NITRO approach makes classical painting detonate in a bright contemporary blaze.
NITRO revisits timeless icons—religious painting, portrait, grand history scene—by making them collide with today’s visual imagination: retro video games, advertising, smileys, targets and lightning bolts. The through-line: a frontal, jubilant, and respectful clash between the museum and the street, where painting material, dripping, and aerosol enhance and transfigure the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
