Description from the seller
Cor Schaap (born 1968) hails from a fishing family and was born in Katwijk aan Zee. The coast has for years formed the central theme in his beach and seascapes, which he paints in a classical impressionistic to post-impressionistic style on canvas and panel.
His work is characterized by a clear, sunny appearance and a strong attention to atmosphere and light. In his recent paintings Schaap deliberately chooses loose brushstrokes and a subtle palette of sandy tones, aquas, and (soft) pastels. With that he captures the characteristic mood of the Dutch coast in his own artistic and recognizable way. Figures are often only sketched, leaving room for interpretation and experience.
Cor Schaap works both outdoors and in his seaside studio. His work is, among other places, sold at Galerie Gabriëls at Noordeinde 103 in The Hague, since 1974 an established address within the Dutch art world.
This is a particularly colorful beach scene that immediately lifts the spirits. A wonderfully sunny work for any lover who enjoys sun, sea, calm and space and likes to look at it.
