Sir William Stirling-Maxwell - Don John of Austria - 1883

Historical biographical work, in 2 volumes, written by William Stirling Maxwell and published posthumously in 1883, with numerous illustrations (as per the photographed indices).
The covers are in excellent condition, with only slight fading on the edges, bindings tight and without looseness.
On the back of both front boards there are ex libris of Reverend Francis Sterry with the aradic family crest and 2 small paper labels from the library that sold the volumes.
Inside pages and only in some, rare, a few brown spots and several pencil underlinings, easily erasable, placed by the previous owner of the volumes. Between pages 168 and 169, the brown trace of a paper bookmark, with the owner's signature, a prominent American archaeologist and anthropologist, which I have left in place as testimony of the former ownership.
