John Forrest pocket watch from 1850–1900 with a sterling silver case, Hawley manual-winding movement, reference 42985, case diameter over 50 mm, lug width 5.6 cm, and weight 155 g, in working order.

Interesting, very beautiful and precious pocket watch in sterling silver, produced in England around 1876, London assay. Functional, with winding key.
Despite its age, its overall state of preservation is very good.
White porcelain dial, with black enamel Roman numeral indices (no. 4 not Roman, as tradition). Blued blue steel hands, original. Seconds dial at 6 o'clock.
Case in sterling silver, wholly and finely engraved, case back with a gold circle at the center, with a cartouche for initials. Movement marked H. Hawley no. 42985, English lever escapement, Hawley, renowned master watchmaker, belonging to the Hawley dynasty, watchmakers and jewellers operating in High Holborn, London, historic area of watchmakers. This watch belongs to a large commercial operation, born in London among the great names of the era: Hawley produced premium mechanisms; while Forrest, with its prestigious trademark, marketed them throughout Europe; then the London assay guarantee.
