Monkey Comedy. - With His Imperial Majesty's approval the undersigned (...) will have the honor to present his monkey comedy with his artificially trained African and European animals, in tightrope walking, haute ecole (art of riding), jumping and pantomime. (Frankfurt), printed by Heller and Rohm, about 1835. One-page print with a large woodcut illustration (16 x 21.2 cm). Plate size 42 x 22.5 cm.

Entertaining performance by the Augsburg resident Joseph Trede, who in several scenes has his trained monkeys perform tricks; including tightrope walking, haute ecole, a restaurant scene with monkeys being served by a dog. Also some solo numbers with dogs are shown to the audience. - The amusing illustration depicts a dog in the costume of a fine lady, with a purse and parasol, walking on two legs; the trailing gown of the lady carries a monkey dressed as a night-watchman. - With horizontal folding.
