Makayhos - [Canvas] Medusa Marble – Gilded Silence

The work depicts a sculptural figure inspired by Medusa, emerging from a marble surface structured in a high-relief conceptual style. The face is carved with classical precision, while the serpents entwined in the hair extend along the surface with a fluid and enveloping movement, creating a perpetual dialogue between organic form and lithic matter.

The canvas is two-dimensional (2D), completely frameless, but designed to generate a strong three-dimensional visual effect. The 3D illusion arises from the layering of the sculpted volumes, the deep shadows, and the rendering of the marble surfaces. To the touch the work remains flat, while to the eye it appears as a monumental bas-relief in which the face and serpents seem to protrude from the wall.
