Splendid and rare antique desk pad (slipcase/desk pad) in fine Italian leather, dating to the first half of the 20th century (likely Florentine artistic craftsmanship). A piece of outstanding charm, perfect for collectors, antique enthusiasts, or to add a touch of class and authority to a professional office or a classic writing desk.
Entirely decorated in relief with rich handcrafted embossing (hot-pressed impression) featuring floral motifs and neo-Renaissance/Baroque scrolls. In the center stands a majestic heraldic shield with a finely repoussé lion rampant. The surface is embellished with elegant diagonal grain patterns and delicate gold detailing along the inner and outer edges, typical of high-end leather artistic work.
The item is presented in good vintage condition. It shows a beautiful patina of time and natural signs of wear on the surface and at the corners (please examine the photos) of the leather (small scratches, lightening, and worn corners), which testify to its authenticity and age without compromising its aesthetics or solidity. The stitching and structure are intact.
