Description from the seller
A duck-form decorative jewellery box from the Indo-craft tradition, in which a naturalistically carved wooden body is covered with applied brass filigree work and accented with colorful semi-precious stone inlays throughout. The piece functions both as a display figurine and as a hinged storage box. The brass filigree is dense and consistent across the surface; the stone inlays retain their color without visible losses. Dating to approximately the mid-twentieth century, this type of object was produced by workshops in India and the broader Middle Eastern craft sphere working in a tradition reflecting Mughal decorative ornament. The maker is unknown and no country-of-origin stamps are present. Condition is Very Good overall: the wooden structure is sound, the filigree is intact with no observed breaks, and the stone inlays are secure; minor surface wear consistent with age and handling is present. No repairs, restoration, or replaced elements are noted. Dimensions: approximately 28 x 15 x 26 cm. Weight: approximately 2.2 kg.
