A Display of Heraldry - 1677

Bulky lot with 6 sheets from 1677 containing more than 60 English heraldic coats of arms from families, guilds or companies, of which brief historical notes and indications about the shield are provided, curated by Captain John Logan. He turned to the study of the laws and customs of England based on the most authoritative sources, gathering the fruit of his work in Analogia Honorum: or, a Treatise of Honour and Nobility, published in 1677.

The sheets measure 39 x 23 cm each and are in very good condition with sporadic and negligible signs of time in the form of marginal foxing. Sheet 361/362 bears marginal stains at the bottom that do not touch the text, nor the wood engravings, and sheet 57/58 has a reinforcement on the lower edge.
