Description from the seller
In the Style of Art Deco coffee and tea service – France, ca. 1930
Beautiful three-piece Art Deco style tea and coffee service consisting of a teapot, sugar pot and milk jug, made of silver-plated brass with black bakelite handles and lid knobs.
The design is characterized by the iconic geometric language of the 1920s–1930s: clean round volumes, architectural pedestals, and distinctive black accents.
The design is in the style of the work of the famous Franco-Swedish designer Christian Fjerdingstad, who during the Art Deco period was responsible for some of the most progressive designs for the French silver industry.
The combination of the rounded bodies, the stylized pouring spouts and the elegant bakelite elements creates a distinctive modernist look that perfectly fits within the luxurious Art Deco aesthetics of the interwar period.
The pieces are made of silver-plated brass. The silverware shows signs of use and wear appropriate to age and use, which underlines the authentic look of the ensemble.
Dimensions
Teapot: 16.5 cm high
Sugar pot: 12 cm high
Milk jug: 10 cm high
Condition
Good vintage condition with normal wear, patina, scratches and localized wear of the silvering consistent with age and use. See photos for a good impression of the condition.
A particularly decorative and collectible Art Deco service, a fine representative of the French modernist design movement of the 1930s.
