Ardbeg Drum is a highly celebratory, limited-edition No-Age-Statement (NAS) single malt released in 2019. It was created to mark that year's Ardbeg Day and the Fèis Ìle (Islay Festival).The theme for the release was a vibrant Caribbean carnival, driving a massive juxtaposition of traditional Islay peat with exotic, warm-climate flavors.The Cask InnovationThe defining twist of Ardbeg Drum is that it represents the first time in Ardbeg's history that a whisky was finished in rum casks. The spirit was initially aged in standard American ex-bourbon oak barrels before being transferred into ex-rum casks sourced from the Americas for a final secondary maturation period.This blend pits Ardbeg's heavily industrial, ocean-sprayed peat smoke directly against the sugary, tropical "funk" of mature rum.
