Description from the seller
Antique table lamp in oil lamp style – Brass, matte glass and wooden base
A particularly atmospheric and elegant vintage table lamp, designed in the classic style of the nineteenth-century oil lamp. The lamp is a beautiful interplay of materials; warm brass, a matte white glass globe and a solid wooden base.
The most striking detail is the tall, graceful brass stem on the side. This flows into an openwork, wrought-iron-like ornament (fleur-de-lis), giving the lamp a stately and classical look. The central shaft is fitted with the characteristic knob (which on an original oil lamp was used to regulate the wick). Above that sits an oval, milk-white glass shade that diffuses the light softly, crowned by a bell-shaped brass shade with a glass 'smokestack' (tube) on top.
Technical details: The lamp is already electrified. In the detail photo of the fitting it is clearly shown to be equipped with a standard E27 fitting (suitable for modern LED or energy-saving bulbs). The brown, vintage cord is present. The entire lamp rests on a heavy, turned dark brown wooden base, which provides extra stability.
Condition: In beautiful vintage condition. The brass has a nice, even patina that suits the age of the object. An absolute focal point for a classic interior, an English-style study, or a cozy living room.
