As a portrait painter I specialize in capturing the female figure, combining realism with a powerful, abstract background. The portraits themselves are realistic, aimed at capturing the essence of the sitter. But it is the background that gives the work its unique character. Here I experiment with diverse techniques, textures and a rich palette of colors to reinforce the emotion and the story. This approach elevates the portrait beyond everyday reality and gives it an unusual depth.

I mainly work with oil paint on canvas and panel, and vary in size from small and intimate to large-scale. This allows me to illuminate the sitter from different perspectives and to create a strong visual presence.
