Description from the seller
David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of Contemporary Images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Subsequently intrigued by the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, calling into question our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary re-reading of cultural icons through an immersive and vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From afar, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it unveils a richness of visual details. Each fragment acts as a “wave,” evoking the artistic universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. A thorough work is carried out on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created originally and independently.
Edition & Production
Each artwork is offered in a limited edition of 8 copies numbered + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear mounting. Printing on white luminous vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great long-term resistance, color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician's career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
