Description from the seller

New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined

David Law

Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images

A multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first made a name with a series devoted to storefront mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Then intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost alive presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.

New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined

Since 2022, David Law has developed a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is crafted from a multitude of micro-visual fragments generated thanks to current graphic tools, then selected, structured and meticulously reassembled by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and current visual culture. This approach allows creating a renewed vision of the painting, located at the border between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.

Edition & Production

Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated rear hanging. Print on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and moisture-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.

Parcours

Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the appointed photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a body of work as author and musician including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
