Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer and Visual Artist – Creator of Contemporary Imagery
Multidisciplinary photographer and visual artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on looking, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first gained recognition for a series devoted to window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave rise to an art book published in 2021. Then, captivated by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost lifelike presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new body of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is built from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated using current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in art history through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to foster a dialogue between artistic heritage and contemporary visual culture. This approach creates a renewed vision of the painting, located at the boundary between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Printed on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum panels, with soft anti-UV and anti-humidity lamination, ensuring excellent durability, long-term resistance, color stability, and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty contemporary art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
