Aage Würtz of Denmark designed a rare mushroom-inspired studio pottery vase in a sand-colour glaze, circa 1955, measuring about 8 cm high by 10 cm in diameter and 10 cm in depth, in modern Danish postwar style and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
AAGE WÜRTZ, DENMARK | Rare “Mushroom Vase”, 1955
An exceptionally beautiful and quiet sand-colored vase of Danish postwar modernism – designed by Aage Würtz, one of the leading ceramic artists of Scandinavia in the 20th century.
The compact, organically rounded form recalls a mushroom or a naturally grown stone: soft, archaic, perfectly balanced. The small, circular opening lends the object an almost sculptural completeness. It is less a classic vase than a contemplative design object – a piece of ceramic landscape in the spirit of Danish Modern.
Particularly impressive is the glaze: deep, earthy, sand-toned with rich nuances and liveliness. Depending on the light, the surface shifts between warm natural tones, mineral depth, and subtle ceramic shading. It is this quiet, poetic material presence that makes the piece so desirable.
A masterpiece by Würtz and a rare collectible for connoisseurs of Scandinavian studio ceramics, Danish design, and high-quality Mid-Century objects.
On the base clearly marked: Würtz 4 52 c
Dimensions: approx. 8 × 10 × 10 cm
Origin: private art and design collection
The object is packed with the greatest care and shipped safely.
Insured shipping with tracking and breakage-proof packaging is, of course, guaranteed.
