He attended the Accademia Linguistica di Belle Arti di Genova, where he was a pupil of Tammar Luxoro. He was a watercolorist, a caricaturist and above all a successful illustrator. Some of his illustrations appear in an edition of The Betrothed (Promessi Sposi).
