Icon - George the Dragonslayer - Wood - hand-painted

Ancient Orthodox icon depicting Saint George as a dragon-slayer on horseback. Hand-painted on a thick, solid wooden panel. Greek original inscriptions visible at the top left (“Ο ΑΓΙΟΣ” – The Saint) and at the top right (“ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ” – George). Probably from a Greek-speaking area or the Balkan region.

The icon is in a moderately aged condition with evident signs of wear over time. The wooden panel shows a pronounced, continuous vertical crack on the right side. The paint layer exhibits age-related craquelure, an opening for mounting at the top, abrasions, and local flaking and loss of color (especially in the entire lower third and along the edges). On the back of the panel there are numerous historical, inactive woodworm holes.

No restorations are visible. The icon remains in an untouched, uncleaned original condition. No changes or modifications have been made. The object is in its original pristine state. No parts (such as crossbars or frame components) have been replaced, added, or removed.
