Description from the seller
Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 50 x 37 cm
This work explores the duality of the human condition through a figure seen from behind, embraced by a dark presence that seems to emerge from its own body. The contrast between the warm, luminous tones of the skin and the black silhouette creates a visual tension that symbolizes the ongoing dialogue between light and shadow, vulnerability and strength, identity and the unconscious.
The minimalist composition, set against a turquoise background, directs all attention to the body language and the emotional intensity of the scene. Rather than depicting a struggle, the work invites us to interpret that embrace as an act of acceptance, reconciliation, and inner transformation.
It is a piece of contemporary figurative art aimed at connecting with the viewer through emotion, leaving room for personal interpretation.
Artist: Lisbet Cuellar, with a bachelor’s degree in Theater Art in the Scenography profile, at ISA (Instituto Superior de Arte), Cuba
Other studies: introductory course in Visual Arts, Centro experimental de las Artes Visuales "Antonio Díaz Peláez", Habana, Cuba
Group exhibitions:

Friends of the Museum, Museo de artes decorativos, 2011
Exhibition "vez primera" (first time), Belkis Ayón Gallery, 2014
