San Michele Arcangelo, a contemporary tempera icon painted by hand on a prepared wooden panel from Italy, dating to 2026 with dimensions 50 cm by 40 cm and an original edition signed by Palumbo M. (XX).
Description from the seller
Saint Michael the Archangel – Hand-painted icon on a panel with silver leaf
Original work made entirely by hand on a rough wooden panel prepared according to iconographic tradition. The background is embellished with silver leaf applied to a deliberately textured surface, which allows the natural grain of the panel to emerge, giving the work a luminous and unrepeatable effect.
The icon depicts Saint Michael the Archangel, prince of the heavenly hosts, in the act of conquering evil. The composition draws inspiration from the Byzantine tradition, reinterpreted with a refined painterly sensitivity that combines iconographic fidelity with artistic quality.
The author hails from Monte Sant'Angelo, a place universally linked to the cult of St. Michael, and trained at the prestigious Iconography School of the Abbey of Santa Maria di Pulsano, where he earned the certificate of iconographer. This path gives the work a strong cultural and spiritual value, rooted in the most authentic tradition of sacred art.
The panel, about 3 cm thick, is a unique piece, ideal for both collectors of contemporary icons and prestigious interiors, professional studios, or spaces dedicated to meditation and prayer.
