Description from the seller
The room is a case of warm shadow: waxed woods, dark leathers, the lamp laying down its pool of amber-gold on the herringbone parquet. From behind, the silhouette rises to the tips of the toes, one arm stretched upward to part the sheer — a gesture of opening, almost a bow addressed to the blue light filtering in from outside. The contrast tells the whole story: on the left, the interior warmth of the lamppost; on the right, the mineral coolness of the Parisian dawn and its opposite-window, its wrought iron in scrolls. The light-colored shirt, the only bright spot on the dark side, makes her the exact pivot between the two worlds. Semiotically, the curtain functions like an eyelid: drawing it aside is to open the eye of the room onto the sleeping city. The chiaroscuro, inherited from the tenebrist tradition, turns a simple awakening into a rite of passage — the night dismissed, the day let in.
Unique work (1/1 copy) — pigment print entirely hand-enhanced, no other print exists.
Technique: mixed media — pigment ink. Varnish applied by hand, for depth of blacks and durable protection of the work.
Support: premium canvas stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 60 × 40 cm (portrait).
