Description from the seller
An atmospheric copper coal scuttle from the 1950s, executed in red copper with brass bands and equipped with a distinctive white porcelain handgrip hand-painted with blue decoration. This type of coal scuttle used to stand next to the fireplace or stove and served to stylishly store and refill coal or briquettes. Today it is a beloved decorative object that fits perfectly in both a country-style and vintage or industrial interior.
The slender cylindrical design is crowned by a slightly flared top edge with a metal carrying handle. The warm copper color, combined with the brass details and the decorative porcelain handle, gives this coal scuttle an authentic appearance. The piece is also excellent to use as an umbrella stand or decorative storage next to the hearth. Copper coal scuttles from the mid- twentieth century are still valued for their artisanal finish and durable material use.
On the front there is a brass plate bearing the inscription "5 KAN", a traditional contents designation referring to the original capacity of the coal scuttle.
